Devil's Charm

Lexie hadn’t seen any of the men taking anything. They must have been particularly discreet about it.

“The parties are a free for all. I’m letting Vincent go alone tonight as it’s his first in so long. He’s been home and good to me. It’s the least I can do. Oh, as an old lady, be aware of your true position in life. You’re here to serve your man, but know it’s up to you if he strays or not. Vincent will not stray as he knows I wouldn’t let him near me if he even f**king thought about it.” Lexie listened as Phoebe went on and on. The more the other woman talked, the harder it was for her to concentrate. “Earth to Lexie.”

Glancing up she saw Phoebe had been running a hand across her face. Smiling, she rested her head on her hand. “What’s going on? Sorry, I missed something.”

“You complete zoned out there, didn’t you, hon?”

“Yeah. It’s you talking about women and the sweet-butts along with the old ladies. It’s too much for me to deal with at the moment.”

“Devil not talked this through with you?” Phoebe asked.

“No, we talk. Of course we talk about everything, but he’s never actually told me what I mean to him or where we’re supposed to go from here. It just seems insane that I’m living with someone, and I don’t even have a clue what it all means.” Blowing some hair out of her face, she smiled sadly at the other woman.

“I know Devil, not well, don’t get me wrong, but well enough to know that he’s crazy about you. I mean, I think he’s in love with you. Completely, totally in love with you.”

Looking down at her lap, Lexie smiled, wishing what she said was true. Her feelings for Devil had changed so much. She didn’t have a clue how she’d fallen in love with one of the most dangerous men she’d ever known.

“I don’t know where I am with his life.”

Phoebe sighed, checking her watch. “I tell you what, why don’t you go and see him? The party won’t be going crazy or anything yet.”

“No, I couldn’t go to him. That would scream obsessive much.” Her heart was pounding.

“I didn’t take you for the giving up type of person.”

“I’m not.”

“Then go to him. Go and tell him how you feel. You do love Devil, don’t you?” she asked.

“Yes, I do.” She did love him. Lexie loved him with all of her heart and soul.

“Go to him. Go and get your man.”

“Okay. What do I do?” she asked.

Phoebe handed her the car keys. “Take my keys and get your ass over there.”

Staring at the keys in her palm, Lexie left Phoebe looking after Simon and Judi as she climbed behind the wheel. Before she could begin to talk herself out of everything she was doing, Lexie headed in the direction of the club. Pushing the boundaries of the speed limit she pulled up into the parking lot. There were bikes and a couple of cars dotted around the parking lot. The music was so loud as she climbed out.

Don’t give up. Get your ass in there and find out what you mean to him.

Phoebe had already promised to take care of the kids. All she needed to do was deal with Devil and his supposed feelings.

Entering the club she came up short when she saw the women dancing on tables. There were only a few, but she recognized them from work.

Ripper approached, smiling at her.

“What are you doing here, sweetness?” he asked.

“I want to see Devil. Where is he?”

“I don’t know.”

She stared into his eyes knowing he was lying.

“Don’t push me.” Lexie shoved him out of the way and charged toward the room she knew was Devil’s office. He’d been the one to ask her to decorate the room.

Her heart was thumping out of fear of what she was about to find. Licking her lips, she saw the door was partially open.

“Come on, baby, I can make you feel so good.” She recognized Tiffany’s voice. Devil’s voice was muttered. Opening the door fully, Lexie gasped. Tiffany was straddling his lap, leaning down to kiss him. She couldn’t see anything else.

He looked up and smiled. “Lex, baby.”

“Fuck you, ass**le,” she said, turning on her heel and walking away. She heard Tiffany mutter something, but she didn’t care to hear it. The bastard had been cheating on her.

“Lex, wait,” Devil said, shouting. She slowed down wanting him to explain exactly why that skank was even on his lap.

She spun on her heel. “Is this what you had planned all along? Get out of the house so you could have a cheap, sloppy f**k with a woman infected with all kinds of shit?” Her control was out of the window. Lashing out, she slammed her palm against his shoulder. “I hate you. You ass**le.”

Storming away, she headed back toward the main room.

“What the f**k? You can’t just come in here and accuse me of shit you don’t even have a clue about,” he said.

“I know what I saw.”

“You didn’t see jack shit. I wasn’t doing anything. I was f**king working to make sure Judi can get into a f**king good school.”

She stopped, glaring at him. “So Tiffany, the whore, just happened to straddle your lap, sucking on your neck.” Lexie glanced toward his neck to see no signs of him being mauled by the other woman. Whatever. The bitch probably got her claws in him in another way. The jealousy was eating at her.

“You worked with this woman. She’s not calling you a whore, and you worked in the strip club alongside her.”

They were in the main part of the club. The music was turned down or off. What the hell was he saying?

Devil cursed his runaway mouth. He couldn’t find it inside himself to tell her the truth. Instead he insulted her as a way of hitting back at her.

“What the f**k are you trying to say?” Lexie asked. Her hands were on her hips. She was driving him f**king crazy. Devil had no intention of being in that predicament with Tiffany. He’d not intended to rattle Lexie’s cage. The last week had been perfect between them, and now she walked into his club, accusing him of cheating and it was pissing him the f**k off. Their argument had gained the entire club’s attention. They were looking between them. The alcohol was flowing even though the bar wasn’t officially open.

“Come on, tell me what you think, Devil. I’m sure I want to hear it.”

He’d pay for this. Devil knew without a shadow of a doubt that he would pay. The anger in her eyes only cemented what he was about to say.
