Replace Me

Replace Me (Kin #2)(5)
Author: Jennifer Foor

Peyton didn’t argue with me. She was all for having a good time and not having me judge her. She was an adult and I needed to trust that she’d be responsible enough to make it back to the room before our parents got us up.

Amber and her friend were waiting for me at the door. They were laughing as I got closer. “What’s so funny?”

Amber grabbed my hand and started pulling me outside. “When we’re done with you tonight, you may never want to leave.”

This was a challenge that I wanted; that I needed. This was going to make me forget all about Lacey.

Lacey

Once Joey left, we settled back in and finished the movie. As much as I tried, I couldn’t stop thinking about how cocky he’d been to me. What kind of man thinks he’s that good? Had it not been for me respecting my friends, I may have slapped him, or punched him right in his dick.

Did he not hear that I’d just had my heart broken?

Joey didn’t come at me with sexy banter. He came at me like he knew it was going to happen between us. That pissed me off, considering that I wanted nothing to do with him.

As the credits started rolling, I decided to head out to my car to get my bag and change into my pajamas. Sky and Ford had announced that they were going to head to bed, and I knew they weren’t going to go to sleep. For two grown adults, they couldn’t take their hands off of one another.

The driveway was dark and I didn’t think that Joey had stuck around, but there he was, taking out a bag of trash at the entrance to the other apartment. He had a cigarette dangling from his lips and tossed it in before noticing that I was standing there checking out what he was doing. “You leavin’ already?”

“I’m getting my bag, if you must know.”

He approached my car and I already felt like we were too close. I grabbed my bag and locked the car door quickly, before I started to walk back toward the house. “I knew your ass was goin’ to be sexy.”

I turned around and gave him a dirty look. “Will you please stop? Sky is my best friend and I like coming to see her. I really don’t feel like having to go through this bullshit every time I come for a visit.”

“I don’t bullshit. I tell it like it is. Always have and always will. Soon enough, you’ll know why.”

He flicked his cigarette into the street and started walking toward me again. I walked backwards, afraid of him trying to put his dirty paws on my butt. “You’re ridiculous! It’s not going to happen.”

He walked faster and grabbed my arm. I pulled away and pushed him. “Don’t touch me! I don’t know where your hands have been.”

He began to laugh and crossed his arms over his chest. “It don’t matter where they’ve been. All that matters is where they will be. Just give it some time to sink in. I guarantee I’ll have you screamin’ my name. They always do.”

“You are gross. I’m not some whore that will just jump into bed with a stranger. I have morals and can promise you that,” I motioned from me to him, “we will never happen.”

He laughed again, this time louder, not caring who heard us. “I don’t f**k, whores. I f**k beautiful women cause they ask me to f**k them. Keep playing hard to get. I love the challenge.”

I huffed and walked away from him without continuing the argument. He obvious thought he knew what I was thinking.

When I got inside, the lights were turned off and Sky was walking back toward the bedroom. “Goodnight, Lace.”

“Have fun!”

She giggled. “We’re going to bed. I swear!”

“Yeah right, you lucky bitch. I still can’t believe you hooked up with him all because you wrecked your car. Who gets that lucky?”

She played with the bottle of water in her hand. “It’s crazy, right?”

“Just remember that I was the one that told you to go for it.”

“How can I forget when you remind me once a day?”

I laughed. “Just making sure. You better get going. I wouldn’t keep a man like that waiting too long.”

“Shut up! He isn’t going anywhere. I’ve got him right where I want him.” She giggled and backed herself to the bedroom door. “Later, bitch!”

I shook my head and went into the guest room to change, but the sounds of moaning, not only got louder, so did the banging. I thought that sleeping out on the couch would be better, but from there, I could still hear them grunting.

Knowing that they wouldn’t do it all night, or hoping, I decided to go back outside and wait. I knew Joey could still be lingering, so I snuck out and leaned against the corner of the house.

The sound of a motorcycle startled me and the headlights gave away my location. When they turned back out, I started to make my way back in the house. Unfortunately, Joey was already standing there. “What are you doin’ outside this late? Did you come out here to find me?”

He pinned me against the house and I felt uncomfortable and alone. “Please leave me alone. I didn’t come out here for you!”

“Why then? It’s nearly midnight.”

“They are a little loud. I figured I’d wait it out!” Sky was going to kill me for giving him that kind of information.

“How about I give you a ride while you’re waitin’?”

I smacked him in the chest and he chuckled. “Fuck off!”

“Doll, I wasn’t talkin’ about f**kin’ you. When it happens, and it will be happenin’, I won’t be the one askin’ for it. Now, do you want a ride or not? You can wear my helmet.”

I felt like an idiot when he pointed to his bike. “I think that being that close to you is a bad idea.”

I couldn’t see his facial expressions, but I knew he was going to challenge my decision. “You scared of a motorcycle, or are you scared of wrappin’ those arms around me and feelin’ somethin’?”

I crossed my arms. “You’re a pig. I’m not scared of anything!”

He walked over and grabbed the helmet, holding it out for me. “It’s one f**kin’ ride. Instead of bein’ bit up by mosquitos, why don’t you ride with me. I promise I won’t bite, unless you ask me, of course. Besides, Ford would kick my ass if I hurt his woman’s B.F.F.”

I took the helmet into my hands, not even realizing what I was doing. “One ride?”

“I won’t even touch you.”

I’d never been on a motorcycle and the fascination of it took away the fact that I hated this guy. It wasn’t like I wanted to hear my best friend getting it on. “This is a really bad idea! Maybe I should just drive home.”
