It had been a year and a half since they’d engaged in any activity involving a third person. The last one had been with Tag, and Logan knew how much that had cost Sam. She’d been devastated when Tag opted to move on. Sure, Sam was happy for him and McKenna, but Logan knew she’d been a bit attached.

That was the main reason he liked Elijah. The notion of a man who was looking for something more than just a good time, but not looking for something as permanent as marriage, seemed like the answer to their prayers. They didn’t have to worry about him moving on – or at least Logan didn’t think they did.

“I do find him incredibly attractive,” Sam stated, drawing Logan’s attention from the road momentarily. When he glanced over, he found her staring at him. “But I find you sexy as hell.”

Logan grinned.

Sam’s fingers squeezed his and she held his hand tightly as they drove home.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he questioned again.

“Yes, I do. I definitely do.”

“Are you worried about something?”

There was a brief pause before Sam answered, which worried Logan. “I’m just nervous I guess. I don’t want to get involved with someone who might move on quickly. Do you think we should be worried about that with him?” she asked and Logan could feel her gaze on him.

“Were you worried about it the last time?”

“No, I guess not.”

Logan didn’t say anything because he could tell Sam had more to add.

“Ok, so maybe I was a little worried. At first. I thought Tag was going to be around for a little longer than he was.”

“Well, the only thing we can do is take it one day at a time, baby. You know that.”

“I do know that.”

Truthfully, Logan really didn’t think they’d have to worry about Elijah moving on. In fact, he was thinking just the opposite. Elijah was interested in Sam. In more than just sex, and he knew that. It was evident in the way the man looked at her, interacted with her. Even though Logan had been right there with them, there were times when it seemed as though he was on the outside looking in. Which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

He just had to figure out whether or not he was willing to share all of her. He was doing his damnedest not to be selfish. He didn’t mind sharing her body, as long as she was game, but he was scared to share her heart.

He could only hope that they had accomplished what they’d set out to by going to dinner tonight. Expectations were set and everyone seemed to be congruent. He didn’t doubt for one minute that Elijah would let Sam see the real him, but he could only hope that Elijah didn’t fall in love with Sam the same way Logan had.

A few minutes later, they were pulling into their driveway. There weren’t any other cars parked along the street which meant Elijah wasn’t there yet.

Once Logan pulled into the garage, parked and turned the car off, the garage door closing behind them, he angled so he could face Sam.

“Remember that night when I brought you back to my place and had you get naked right here in this car?”

Sam nodded, her eyes widening.

“Were you scared that night?”

“Yes,” she whispered. “In a good way.”

Logan grinned. “I hope you feel the same about tonight. Let me be in charge. I swear to you, Sam. I’ll take care of you.”

“I know you will,” she uttered with conviction.

“Then baby, it’s time for you to let me take control. From this point onward, you’ll do exactly what I tell you to. Understand?”

“Yes.”

God, he loved the husky sound of her voice when she was turned on.

“Good, then let me take care of you tonight. Starting right now.”

Chapter Ten

Elijah purposely took his time getting to Logan and Sam’s house. As soon as he received Logan’s text with their address, he’d keyed the information into his navigation, but he hadn’t left the restaurant parking lot right away.

Instead, he’d sat right there, in the front seat of his car and stared out into the dark night that had consumed the city while they’d been having dinner.

But now he was sitting out in front of Logan’s house, patiently waiting. For what? He had no idea.

Ok, so maybe he was trying to steel his nerves just a little. This was a huge step for him. And it had nothing to do with the fact that he was going to go inside and find himself falling into bed with a married woman.

No, he suspected there might be a different sort of falling going on.

“Beth, honey, please give me the strength to make it through the night without totally losing myself.”
